Paynter Filly Becomes Sire’s First Winner at Monmouth

DARK ARTIST (f, 2, Paynter–Ominous Cat, by Storm Cat) raced in midpack and rallied to a second-out victory on the Haskell undercard at Monmouth, becoming the first winner for her freshman sire (by Awesome Again). Fourth on debut here July 7, the bay was dismissed at 12-1 for this second go-around and lagged a bit off the pace in third behind a :22.60 quarter. Gaining momentum as Beach Girl (Violence) seized control turning for home, she collared that one in deep stretch and strode clear clear to score by 1 1/2 lengths. Beach Girl completed the exacta.
